Training Race Session #4

Spring Forward ~ Fall Back! Don't forget to set your clocks back 1 hr this Saturday night so you can fall back asleep on Sunday Morning!

Saturday November 3rd ~ Training Races Session #4 3:00-6:00pm. These training races have been awesome! In Session #3 Jennie Reed reviewed the finer art of the flying 200 and then gave us all the opportunity to try it again. Everyone could see the noticeable improvement that we had all made from the previous week.

Immediately after the flying 200’s, we moved into Keiren training. I have never raced a Keiren before so this session was exactly what I needed. Jennie grouped us together behind the motorbike based on our Flying 200 times. We had 3 different men’s races which meant the 4 Ladies would get to race together. We all had a great time and learned a tremendous amount about how the Keiren works, the various tactics to be used and the rules.

Session #4 ~ We will begin learning how to do Standing Starts. Standing starts are essential for both sprint & endurance track events from the Keiren to the Match Sprints to the Pursuits. We will also begin learning the ins & outs of Team Sprints (2 women, 2 laps), Olympic Sprints (3 men, 3 laps) and Italian Sprints (4 people, 4 laps). If you know how to do these events, please come help us all learn; if you don’t know how to do these events, please come learn with us!!

FYI ~ If any of you are planning to put together an Italian Sprint team to race in the Prostate Cancer Prevention Project at ADT on Sat Nov 10th, (see race info below) then you won’t want to miss this Saturday’s Training Races!! Please make plans to bring your 4 person Italian Sprint Team to Training Race #4 this Saturday!

You will need to bring your current racing license along with your own track bike, helmet, shoes, pedals and any additional equipment that you may need. Rental bikes will be available for Juniors only (at no charge). Training Race Session fee is $10 in addition to your normal track fee.

All participants must be certified by the velodrome director, Roger Young prior to the first session. If you are a female & have attended one or more LOTS then you are considered to be certified. If you are not female then check the LA Velodrome website for a schedule of upcoming Certification Classes.
