Ladies Only Track Update 11/12/07

You can spend your time, waste your time, or invest your time. It's your choice.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next Ladies Only Track Session (LOTS) will be held on Saturday November 17th at the LA Velodrome. 12noon-2:00PM
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday November 17th ~ Training Races Session #6 3:00-6:00pm. This Saturday's session will be reserved for the Elite Pro 1-2’s ONLY!! In preparation for the upcoming world cups, the LA Velodrome has been reserved for some special final preparatory races for our World Cup athletes & Bejing Olympic Hopefuls. With the 2008 Bejing Olympic games on the horizon, these guys ‘n gals aren’t able to leave any thing to chance.

Please come support them by spectating this event. You will learn a lot about how it’s done as you enjoy this once in a lifetime treat! Bring your team, your friends, your family and any other cycling addicts that you can find!! Talk about ‘eye candy’? This will be special!

In Session #5 Adam Duvendeck, Travis Smith and Gideon Massie worked together sharing their track cycling knowledge and skills with us! Together they provided us with tons of helpful info and insider tricks of the trade. After the usual 40 lap pace line style group warmup, we all had another go at the Flying 200’s. Almost everyone established a new PR and added some valuable tools to their tool boxes.

After a quick round of Flying 200’s, we moved back onto Standing Starts. Adam and Giddeon reinforced what we learned last week as they worked one-on-one with us. Knowing that more track races begin with a standing start than not, it is easy to see why it’s pretty important to learn and develop good Standing Start skills.

Once we’d all taken a turn or three doing a Standing Start, we moved on to a series of short Scratch races.

Huge “Thank You’s” to Adam, Travis, Giddeon and Momentum Cycling for all your helpful info and for your time!

Session #6 ~ This Saturday, the training races will be reserved for the Elite 1-2 World Cup Pros.

We look forward to rejoining all of you on Saturday December 1st at 3PM!

As always, you will need to bring your current racing license along with your own track bike, helmet, shoes, pedals and any additional equipment that you may need. Rental bikes will be available for Juniors only (at no charge). Training Race Session fee is $10 in addition to your normal track fee.

All participants must be certified by the velodrome director, Roger Young prior to the first session. If you are a female & have attended one or more LOTS then you are considered to be certified. If you are not female then check the LA Velodrome website for a schedule of upcoming Certification Classes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday November 16th 7:00Pm ~ Track Tool Clinic ~ Learn How to ‘tool’ your own track equipment. Do you know how tight all the various bolts should be on your track bike? Which ones should be ‘finger tight’ & which ones should be ‘as tight as possible’? How do you change your rear cog? What tools do you even need?
Bring your track bike and any tools that you do have to Ted’s Bike Shop in Manhattan Beach for a hands on Track Tool Clinic.
Please RSVP to me to let me know that you will be coming? Julia@crossins.com
Just a heads up for all (the Ladies) out there – Please be careful! This (Monday) morning just after 10AM, my husband’s teammate, Rob McCray (team Motortabs) was knocked off of his bike, and his bike stolen, while riding on the San Gabriel Riverbed trail, near Eldorado Park (in between Spring & Willow).Two Hispanic males where apparently casing the area to attack cyclists. One of the guys walked close and knocked Rob off of his bike with an outstretched arm, hitting him in the face & nearly breaking his nose, and then proceeded to grab the contents of his jersey’s pockets. The other guy grabbed his bike and they both rode off on it while Rob was still on the ground.
Rob’s bike is an ‘07 Cervelo R3, full Dura Ace, red bar tape, Fizik Arionne saddle, FSA seatpost, Ritchey stem, Dura Ace pedals, Serfas bottle cages. size : 53 Not sure what wheels are on the bike, but they may be ‘07 silver Dura Ace clincher/tubeless ones.
If you see any classified ad, or any “for sale” info concerning a bike like this please let Rob know immediately. rmccray2@yahoo.com
Please keep your eyes open for the bike, and be careful, especially on the riverbed bike trails – this seems to happen more on those pathways.
Have a super week Ladies!!
