I know many of you are itching to ride but are unable to due to the smoke and fires; there's always the indoor climate controlled ADT Velodrome for improved air quality and a great workout!
Anyone who has been certified to ride at ADT should consider heading there for both extra and essential mileage during these fires.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar w/the schedule....tonight, Thursday, (and every Tues/Thurs) is an open training session aka "Roger's Session" A typical "Roger's Session" is 28-32 miles.
We do a pace line group warm-up starting at exactly 7:00pm followed by 2-4 interval sessions that are about 10-15 min long each. Everyone does the same thing in a single file pace line style format. The Pole lane is reserved for beginners or new folks while the blue line and balustrade is for those w/enough skill to ride safely and make safe decisions.
After that, we do the "Motorgame" where everyone lines up single file behind the motor and we do 30-60 laps starting 25 mph and finishing at 40+ mph. Everyone gets to sit on the motor for 2 laps and is then required to peel off and move to the back of the bus. By the end of the motorgame there are usually less than half a doz folks still "on the motor" as Roger tries to burn everyone off one or two mph at a time.
Friday nights 6:00-9:00pm there is open training. You bring your own workout schedule and do your own thing.
Saturday afternoon from 3:00-6:00pm we have week #3 of our 9 wk Training Race Series. These sessions are geared for beginners to learn the basics of track racing and for experience racers to perfect their racing skills all in a safe fun environment! You must have a USCF racing license to participate.
Sunday 12:00-3:00 is another open training session. You bring your own workout schedule and do your own thing.
Please note: You must be certified to participate in any/all training and racing sessions at ADT!
Please see the LA Velodrome website for a complete training & racing calendar.
I have growing list of Ladies with places available for displaced residents affected by the fires throughout the Southland. Please let me know if anyone needs anything!!
Cheers!
