We are looking forward to seeing all who are interested in the training races this Saturday the 13th of October for the first one.
After several discussions of the organizers we have made a couple of changes to the fee schedule and wanted to clarify the intent of the series and the format.
As for the fees, we understand that many will not be able to make it to all of the dates and we certainly do not want to exclude anyone. Therefore we will be charging $10 + ADT track fees per week to cover our costs and if you plan to be at most, if not all, of the races we will charge $60 + weekly track fees for the whole 9 race series. As mentioned previously juniors pay only the track fee. The fees for the series can be paid in cash or by check to Momentum Cycling. The Track fees are separate and can be handled also by cash or check to ADT Center.
There are several goals for this series but the main one is to allow a group of interested riders to race against other riders who have similar strengths in a safe and fun environment, without the pressures encountered in real races. As previously mentioned there will be no posting of results as in formal race series. There will also be no formal instruction (as in sit down white board lectures). Each week we will focus on one or two race types and will explain the format of the races and appropriate tactics during the day.
While the instructors have a lot of race experience and some are professional track cyclists, none are certified coaches.
By the end of the series those who participate will be familiar with most race disciplines and hopefully have an increased comfort level when they go to formal races.
There will be a variety of race experience in the group and those with little or no experience will certainly be able to learn from those with more. Depending on overall size we will have 2 or 3 groups each week and will determine these based on who shows up. This will allow you to race against others who are similar in strength and experience. Those in the B and C groups will learn not only from racing but also observing the riders in the stronger groups.
If anyone has any questions about this before Saturday please feel free to contact Julia Cross at julia@crossins.com .
I have no doubt that all who come out will have a great experience and we look forward to seeing you Saturday."

Howard Marans
