LOTS of obesity in America

From The OC Register 8/27/09 ~ A headline in a recent copy of Health magazine shouts that ALL Americans will be overweight or obese by 2050. Can that possibly be true? http://healthyliving.freedomblogging.com/2009/08/27/an-even-fatter-future-for-america/9441/

One way to fight obesity is to increase your activity level. What better way to do that than to meet us at the Velodrome for the next LOTS Sessions:

Encino Velodrome ~ Please Note the Start times of each session!
Encino ~ Sat Sept 12th (9am-11am) Keiren School
Encino ~ Sat Sept 12th (11am-1pm) LOTS Session
Encino ~ Sat Sept 12th (2-6pm) Ladies Only Track School

Encino ~ Sat Oct 10th (9am-4pm) Open House ~ free* See info below*
Encino ~ Sat Oct 10th (9am-4pm) Whole Bike Swap Meet *See info below*

The LOTS Keiren School session fee is $5.
The LOTS session fee is $10.
LOTS Racing School Session fee $50
All LOTS Session fees include the use of a Rental Bike.

The 4 hour LOTS Track Schools are designed to help the Ladies ease the transition from training on the track to racing on the track! Our team of coaches and mentors keep the environment fun and safe as we help you enter the exciting world of track racing!

The focus of the Track School on Sept 12th will be centered on the typical race day Omnium events that are found locally and at most track races. We use ample discussion time and repetitive skill drills to facilitate the learning process.

If you are already certified on the track or you are a WCat 3 or higher on the road, please plan to attend! Email me for a registration form at julia@crossins.com

Saturday is Junior Day ~ Boys & Girls, teens & tweeners of all ages are invited to bring their friends & Parents to the Encino Velodrome for a fun day of chores and bike riding! If you’ve never experienced Olympic style track cycling, you will definitely enjoy yourself!! In exchange for a twirl around the 250 meter oval bike track, we have a list of super easy ‘Handyman Projects’ to be completed. Each project completed earns you time on the bike!

2) Clubhouse & announcers booth; (Overseer ~ TBD)
3) Bleachers, Track surface & balustrade boards; (Overseer ~ TBD)

Bike Clubs/Teams ~ LOTS is looking for local cycling clubs to oversee each of these Project Areas.

Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts ~ Scouts who need to earn either a Community Service or non-riding portions of a Cycling Badge should plan to bring your entire troop and attend this event.

USAC Junior Track Riders ~ In addition to demonstrating their track cycling skills throughout the day to those in attendance, our local Junior Racers will also be assisting with some of the Track Maintenance projects.

Boys & Girls Clubs ~ If you are looking for some safe adrenaline fun after school this fall, then come to the Open House and learn about Encino’s afterschool Track Cycling opportunities
