LOTS to do in the off season...

You can spend your time, waste your time, or invest your time. It's your choice.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sat Oct 25th The SCNCA held its Annual Meeting this past weekend at the Wild Rivers Water Park in Irvine, CA. Following an action packed meeting with plenty of discussions on a variety of topics, we all moved outside over to the picnic area to enjoy some BBQ meat sandwiches with all the trimmings. After everyone had a chance to enjoy a good meal and some artful face painting, Eric & Greg presented the 2007 and the 2008 So Cal Cup Category Awards. Jerseys and medallions were awarded for both road and track for both individual and team winners. It was a fun day to get together and socialize.
** Nominations are being accepted for available SCNCA trustee positions. These are two year terms that will begin on January 1, 2009 and run through December 31, 2010. The elections will be held on December 1st, 2008. Please forward any nominations to redbike@earthlink.net. Nominations will close on November 15th and ballots will go out to all current USAC clubs on November 16th.
*** New Steering Committee ~ Ladies, the SCNCA Board of Directors is forming a steering committee that is designed to be ‘of the women, by the women and for the women’. If you have a vision and a passion for Women on Bikes then please consider joining us. We are looking for ways to support those who already ride and race as well as increase the number of women on bikes on the track, on the road and on the dirt. Our goal is to educate women who ride for pleasure and race for prizes. It takes a village and that’s what we are looking to build! If you are interested in being a part of this committee in 2009, please email me and we will notify you of the happenings as they happen!
Oct 31-Nov 2nd ~ 2008 Manchester World Cup Track Race ~ Well it may be the “off season” here for us non-Elite trackies but the first round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup will take place this coming weekend in Manchester. Some of our own local Ladies will be there representing the US and their own trade teams.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next LOTS Session ~ I still don’t have confirmation on the date for the next LOTS session at the LA Velodrome, but I will let you all know as soon as it is confirmed!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Attn Women’s Race Teams ~ The So Cal bike racing off-season is short but it is a popular time for clinics. Now is a great time to plan a Track Cycling Clinic for your women’s team! Not only is track cycling fun but it teaches you many valuable skills that are essential for all cycling abilities and disciplines. Please contact me for more information!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sun Nov 2nd ~ The 2008 Muddy Buddy Race Series is coming to San Dimas and they need some Downright Dirty Divas! No…this is not a track cycling event but it is a fun race for the multi-sport athlete! Bring your running shoes and a teammate to share a mountain bike with and join us for a leap-frog style 10k tag-team race! Both team members are required to alternate biking (approx 3 mi) and running (approx 3 mi) and there is a mandatory belly crawl thru the mudpit to get to the finish line! Teams can be co-ed or not. There is even a Costume Contest for the best dressed-up team…so don’t let your Halloween Costume go to waste!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sun Nov 9th ~ Please join us for one more track race this year! The 2008 Black Tire Affair Velodrome Challenge for Prostate and Breast Cancer Awareness
Event Location: ADT Center Velodrome - 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Format: Combination Olympic Sprint (3 team members) and Individual 500 m TT.
Each team will race two (2) Olympic Sprint heats and each team member will ride one (1) Individual time trial (500m). The winning team is the team with the lowest overall combined time for all events.
Please join us and help us raise money and awareness for the research and treatment of Prostate & Breast Cancer.
It’s Survey Time! The LOTS Program is now 2 years old. To help us plan the future direction of the Program, I am asking all 200+ of you to complete a short easy survey. While some of you have never returned to the ADT Event Center since your first Certification Class, others of you practically live there! In order to help us meet your needs and to improve the quality of the LOTS Program, I am asking all of you to complete this survey. Please & Thank you!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ladies Only Tshirts ~ Just in time for the holidays! At the request of many of you in recent months, we are finalizing the details of a really nifty LOTS Tshirt to help celebrate the 2 year Anniversary of the LOTS Program. This fundraiser will also bring some much needed finances into the program allowing us to grow LOTS into 2009. The Tshirts will be slightly fitted and nicely feminine in a high quality fabric. Sizes will range from XS-XLg. If you go to my blog you will see the new LOTS Logo on the right hand side. This logo will be displayed on the center front of the shirts (approx 4in diam). The TShirts will be a really pretty "buttercup" yellow.
Order yours now for just $20 including postage! Send me an email and I'll process your order!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday Nights 6-9PM ~ This Friday I will not be there due to the Halloween Holiday!! Ladies, you are invited to join us on each Friday evening for Open Training at the LA Velodrome. Friday nights at ADT are lightly attended and we provide a lightly structured workout designed to improve your track skills. If you are looking to gain confidence, develop specific track (training & racing) skills and improve your overall fitness without the intimidation of a more crowded session, then consider joining us on Friday nights at 6PM. Please email me ahead of time so I know to expect you!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you seen USA Cycling's Web article featuring the LOTS program? If you, your employer or anyone you know, is interested in sponsoring the LOTS program, please contact me. The LOTS program is dedicated to introducing women to the exciting sport of track cycling and we intend to grow this program far into the future and to take it to as many tracks as possible! If you are intersted in becoming a part of the LOTS Team, please email me!
