You can spend your time, waste your time, or invest your time. It's your choice.
The Ladies Only Track Sessions (LOTS) are not just for beginners! In addition to new rider certification, these sessions are designed to be an Open Training Session for independent (beginners and advanced) riders much the same as the Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Sunday open sessions.
During the first hour of each 2 hour LOTS there is a certification class available for beginners to attend. This hour is the perfect opportunity for experienced athletes and established women’s teams to get in some great time on the track for only $10 per session plus a FREE bike rental if you need it! All other regular co-ed sessions charge a $20 session fee PLUS $10 to rent a bike.
During the LOTS you are invited to do your own workout or participate in a semi-organized group warmup and workout. If you have a coach, your coach is invited to attend much the same as for any other open session. You, your friends and your teammates will definitely benefit from the LOTS open track time.
As we move thru the off season, these monthly LOTS sessions are a great opportunity to get in some specialized endurance & sprint training in between your long road rides. The LOTS sessions are a great way to stay in touch with the track and prepare for the local Track racing season in the spring.
With Masters Track Nationals in San Jose, CA in 2008, the LOTS will be a very useful training session for (4 person) Pursuit Teams, (2 person) Sprint Teams and many other track racing disciplines!
Many of the Women’s road racing teams are now planning various skills clinics for the winter months. You should consider utilizing the LOTS and the LA Velodrome for a track skills clinic or two for your Women’s Racing Team. Coaches & Team Captains, Please ask me for more information and plan to attend the next LOTS in December!

Friday Nov 16th ~ Track Tool Clinic ~ Holy Smokes!! You ladies begged me to host a Track Tool Clinic and we did it! The tool clinic was fantastic! We had 4 Ladies and 1 Jr Lady attend. Everyone brought their bike, their tools and their sense of humor. We met with Ted Ernst and his chief mechanic, Manny at Ted’s Bike Shop in Manhattan Beach at 7PM sharp. Both Ted & Manny were full of helpful information, tips, trick and tools of the trade. We started with the front wheel hub & cones then we moved on to the rear wheel hub, cones and chain tension before finishing up with the headset and changing out handlebars. Everyone was aghast at the amount of stuff to learn and the ‘problems’ that they all discovered they had….one Lady had cones that were mal-adjusted to the point that the axle would no longer spin. I discovered that all track chains have a “loose” section and a “tight” section and that bit of information is critical to correctly re-installing your rear wheel! We all had a great time and learned lots. It is empowering to be able to work on your own bike with confidence and to understand what you are doing and why. Thanks Ted & Manny!! We appreciate all that you do and we are looking forward to the next Track Tool Clinic!!
